Chinese Medicine Pediatrics at Elements of Wellness
It is important to us to offer care to people at all stages of life.
The first stages of life, from newborn to adolescence, lay down the foundation for lifelong health. This is why we have developed our pediatric “WellBaby” and “WellChild” programs, to provide guidelines for parents to use this effective, natural healthcare system for their children. Proper treatment in children can address many acute and chronic conditions, increase immunity and vitality, and prevent processes from taking root that can negatively impact lifelong health.
Chinese Medicine Pediatrics is an ancient healing art that was mentioned as a specialty of its own as early as 100 B.C. in the Yellow Emperor’s Classic. To put this in perspective, western medicine did not recognize pediatrics as a unique branch of medicine until the mid-20th century.
Chinese Medicine offers valuable insight into the physical/emotional/psychological/spiritual development of children at all stages from pregnancy and birth through adolescence. It also provides the appropriate therapies to assist in their growth and/or intervene in the disease process. Here at Elements of Wellness, we want to help parents and children by offering safe, gentle, and effective all-natural treatments. These include acupuncture, massage, herbal remedies, diet, essential oils, and lifestyle guidelines to name a few.
There are many things that affect the health of a child that can be addressed with Chinese Medicine. We take into account the constitutional nature of the child, the developmental phase he or she is in, the strength of their digestion and immunity, and the degree to which they are being affected by stagnation in the form of food and mucous accumulation or lingering pathogens from a previous illness or vaccination.
By taking all these things into account we can choose the best course of treatment for conditions such as:
- Colic
- Conjunctivitis
- Eczema
- ADHD
- Musculo-skeletal Pain
- Abdominal Pain
- Sleep Disorders
- Allergies
- Mood Disorders
- Teething
- Tonsillitis
- Asthma
- Autism Spectrum Issues
- Ear infections
- Bed-wetting
- Developmental Delay
- Injuries
- Pre-and Post-Vaccine Care
- Adolescence Issues
We recommend talking to us about your child and any concerns you have. Some children and conditions respond amazingly well to acupuncture, herbal therapies, and Chinese Medicine.
Generally speaking, acute conditions respond more quickly, while chronic conditions take longer and/or require on-going management. If a condition requires urgent or adjunct Western medical care, we will let you know and make the appropriate referral. We will gladly work with your pediatrician and other healthcare professionals to provide the best all-around care for your child.
We look forward to meeting you and your family!!!
